Epigenetic testing

Epigenetic testing

Why?

Epigenetic testing measures your biological age. Not just how old you are, but how old your body actually is at a cellular level.

01

What is an epigenetic test?

An epigenetic test looks beyond your chronological age to reveal how your body is actually ageing at a cellular level, by analyzing the following:

Your biological age, a precise indicator of how old your cells actually are, independent of your date of birth
How fast you are ageing, and whether that rate is higher or lower than expected for someone your age
Chemical markers on your DNA that accumulate over time, reflecting the combined impact of your lifestyle, stress, nutrition and environment
Which genes are currently being turned on or off in your body, and what that means for your health

How it works

Getting your epigenetic test done at our clinic involves the following steps:

A small blood sample is collected by one of our specialists, no special preparation required
Using third generation epigenetic clock, your DNA sample is sent to an accredited laboratory where your DNA methylation markers are analysed
Your biological age and pace of aging is compiled into a personal report
Your results are reviewed with one of our doctors, who will explain your findings and discuss targeted recommendations based on your biological age and overall health profile

About epigenetic testing

The DNA-test is a simple and non-invasive procedure that involves collecting a small blood sample.
The sample is then sent to an accredited laboratory for analysis, and results are available within a few weeks.

We use the DunedinPACE test, developed by researchers at Duke University. Rather than giving you a static biological age, it measures your pace of ageing. A score of 1.0 means average. Below 1.0 means slower. Above 1.0 means faster.

The test is not a diagnostic tool but a preventive measure that gives you a precise picture of how your body is ageing at a cellular level.

To get the most accurate results, please follow these guidelines before your assessment.

48 hours before

  • Avoid intense exercise
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Prioritize sleep

The morning of your assessment

  • Fast overnight — come in on an empty stomach
  • Hydrate well with water

Medications & supplements: Continue all regular medications and supplements as normal. Do not stop HRT, thyroid medication or other prescriptions before your assessment, we want to see your biological baseline on your current regimen, not off it.

Timing: If you repeat the assessment, aim to test at the same time of day each time to minimize circadian variation in your results.

Menstrual cycle: If applicable, note which day of your cycle you are on. Hormonal fluctuations across the cycle can influence certain markers, and recording this allows us to account for it accurately at follow-up.

If you are unwell: Please reschedule if you are acutely ill. Testing during illness can affect a number of markers and may not reflect your true baseline.

Your results will be reviewed with one of our doctors, who will walk you through your biological age, your pace of aging and what your findings mean for your health. If your results indicate areas that would benefit from attention, your doctor will discuss targeted recommendations, whether that is lifestyle adjustments, nutritional changes, hormonal optimization, medication if needed or follow-up testing.

We recommend retesting annually to track your progress over time.
